TRAINING INFORMATION





Annual in-service and Entrance Level training is regulated by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions




LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CORRECTIONAL IN-SERVICE TRAINING



All Law Enforcement and Correctional personnel of the Sheriff's Office are required to attend and successfully complete a minimum number of hours of training annually.

Sheriff's Office personnel attend numerous training classes annually which include:

1. Firearms classroom and range training


2. Police baton


3. Officer safety


4. Law updates


5. CPR and First Aid



In addition to the above training, other courses are taught which are needed in a particular year or for a particular reason.

The Sheriff's Office offers all of it's Law Enforcement and Correctional in-service training programs to other local police/correctional agencies, free of charge.




LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CORRECTIONAL ENTRANCE LEVEL TRAINING


All newly hired Law Enforcement and Correctional Deputies are required to attend and successfully complete an entrance level training program as mandated by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions

Law Enforcement Deputies attend a minimum of 400 hours of training which includes, Administration, Arrest/Search/Seizure, Patrol, Traffic, Criminal Investigation, Emergency Care.

Correctional Deputies attend a minimum of 160 hours of training which includes, Administrative procedures, Intro to Corrections, Supervision/Relations/Treatment, Security/Custody/Control, and Disciplining.
