WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
The Washington County Special Response Team is a cooperative effort of the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Hagerstown Police Department.
The team has been in existence since 1998. The entire team is used to assist the Washington County Narcotics Task Force in high risk warrant searches, search warrants, as well as other calls for service requiring the expertise of the highly trained members.
Funding for the equipment, uniforms, etc., is provided by drug forfeiture/asset funds.
In 2006, the SRT assisted in serving 12 high risk search and seizure warrants and responded to 1 hostage/barricade incident. They also assisted the Frederick County, Maryland, Sheriff's Office on 2 high risk search and seaizure warrants.
