The Sheriff's Office Judicial Division's primary function is to provide security for the Circuit Court House and Courtrooms during trials, and to serve various civil process coming from private attorneys, and the District and Circuit Courts.
In 2006, the Sheriff's Office Judicial Division attempted 29,969 summons and served 19,056. They also attempted 131 Criminal Summons and served 81. The Judicial Division also served 530 warrants.

There are five Circuit Court Judges who conduct trials involving criminal, civil, and juvenile matters. Two Deputies are assigned to each courtroom when they are in session. It is felt the mere presence of uniformed deputies provides a deterrent factor and has a tendency to maintain order during the trials.
In 2006 the Sheriff's Office performed over 4,500 hours of courtroom security.

There are metal detectors located at the two public entrances to the courthouse complex. These detectors are manned by civilian personnel of the Sheriff's Office during the time the courthouse is open.

Judicial Division Deputies are sworn law enforcement officers and fulfill other law enforcement duties in between their security and civil process duties.
