The canine unit of the Sheriff's Office continues to enhance its abilities to serve the citizens of Washington County. Specially trained officers and dogs are used for this unit for drug detection, person tracking, building and area searches and other various needs. The K-9 program is an invaluable asset to law enforcement. Each K-9 handler is required to undergo 16 hours of training each month and 40 - 80 hours of recertification annually.
